Privacy-preserving Techniques: A Review

Abstract
With the rapid development of technology and the reliance on digital systems, data privacy has become a critical concern. In recent years, various privacy-preserving techniques have emerged to address these concerns, these techniques are categorized into Cryptographic, Non-cryptographic, Hybrid, and Decentralized. This paper comprehensively reviews these techniques, comparing their strengths, limitations, and applications in various fields like healthcare and Internet of Things (IoT). The comparative analysis highlights the trade-offs between security and efficiency, providing insights of the suitable techniques for different use cases. Finally, existing challenges and future directions are discussed to enhance privacy-preserving techniques.
